  • 2026 Honoree in Embedded Technologies
The VA7031/VA7042 is a SerDes chipset targeted to address the key challenges in next-generation endoscope systems. The FDA has urged healthcare providers to transition to single-use architecture to reduce the risk of cross-contamination (at least 35 people have died since 2013). However, adoption of reusable scopes has been slow due to the difficulty in providing similar performance without adding cost or complexity in a disposable package. The VA7031/VA7042A Serializer/Deserializer offers the breakthrough needed to facilitate the industry’s transition to disposable scopes, enabling uncompressed, high-resolution video over a single, thin coaxial or unshielded cable. With built-in electrosurgical noise cancellers, the VA7031/VA7042A offers best-in-class EMI immunity, allowing endoscopes to function reliably even during electrosurgical procedures. Compliant with the MIPI A-PHY standard, the VA7031/VA7042A includes a miniaturized serializer chip, while the receiver handles all processing and noise cancelation, lending itself to a disposable endoscope design.
