SEDA(Substation Equipment Diagnostic & Analysis System)
SEDA is an AI-based predictive diagnostic platform designed to assess ultra-high-voltage power equipment in substations. Piloted at KEPCO-operated substations, it enables comprehensive real-time condition monitoring. In the past, early detection of internal defects was challenging, as inspections relied on weekly external checks and internal inspections conducted every 2-3 years. SEDA addresses this by collecting real-time data from six kind of sensors attached to transformers and switchgears, integrating it with historical inspection records, and applying AI algorithms to automate defect diagnosis. This process allows the immediate identification of abnormal signs, preventing potential failures.
In the first half of 2025, SEDA prevented 10 ultra-high-voltage equipment failures, saving companies $24 million and delivering over zero-outage cases for consumers. By automating diagnostics, SEDA helps ensure uninterrupted operation of essential services such as hospitals and transport systems, offering solutions for the digital transformation of power facility management through AI predictive diagnosis.
