Airloom Energy Generation System
Airloom Energy
- 2026 Honoree in Sustainability & Energy Transition
Airloom is fundamentally rethinking how we get power from the wind, designing low-cost, utility-scale, resilient energy generation technology that is simple to manufacture and transport, and can be installed anywhere. Airloom uses a track and smaller 'wings' that move along it, catching wind to generate electricity. Compared to a 3MW horizontal-axis wind turbine (HAWT), which is a commonly installed machine, Airloom’s system has 40.3% less mass, 42.3% fewer parts, 96.1% fewer unique parts, and has 50.5% lower cost per square meter of swept area. By leveraging smaller, simpler parts that can be mass-produced, Airloom can be shipped in regular trucks, and put together much faster. Our goal is to unlock a variety of new locations for wind energy generation – even places with lower wind speeds or height restrictions – making clean, reliable electricity accessible and affordable for everyone as unprecedented demands on the grid continue to rise.
