In the near future, there will be mandatory legal regulations requiring the Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) that alert drivers if they are not fully focused on driving. LG Display’s 12” Under Display Camera-infrared (UDC-IR) OLED is designed to meet these requirements by placing an IR camera behind the panel, thereby reducing concerns about privacy invasion. The pixel design is optimized to allow the IR camera to detect the driver’s status while providing the minimum required IR transmittance and high-quality images for DMS. Additionally, LG Display has applied algorithm to ensure that the camera area of is invisible. The optimal Pixel design ensures equal lifespan between the normal and UDC IR areas. Although P-OLEDs typically have reduced IR transmittance due to the PI(Polyimide) layer compared to glass, LG Display’s unique pixel design allows P-OLED to meet minimum transmittance for DMS. Furthermore, the P-OLED enables customizing the design according to preferences.
